Sunrise Medical has acquired Oracing, a Spain-based manufacturer and designer of sports wheelchairs and e-mobility power products.
Founded by Felipe Garcia in 2007, Oracing manufactures and distributes customized manual wheelchairs, hand bikes and e-mobility power assist products mainly within Europe. Thomas Babacan, the Group CEO at Sunrise, said that the sports and e-mobility markets are very fragmented but have “great growth potential,” leading the company to acquire the growing company.
“Oracing complements and strengthens our portfolio,” Babacan said in a statement. “They have achieved impressive growth with their expertise and passion; and we will further accelerate the growth leveraging our breadth of industrial knowledge and global network.”
Babacan added that the Oracing team will continue to run the business at their current site under the Oracing brand with more support and resources from Sunrise. Mike Sheen, the general manager for Sunrise brand RGK, noted that the new acquisition will help the company “offer the most suitable products to satisfy a large variety of specific customer needs” in the sports and e-mobility markets.
Garcia, who started the company to address mobility challenges for quadriplegic people like him, said he was excited to see the opportunities that joining Sunrise would bring Oracing.
“We are thrilled by this transaction,” Garcia said. “The business has been developing well, and we are at the point to look at our next phase of growth. Sunrise Medical is the ideal growth platform for us.”
