Smith+Nephew Launches Allevyn Complete Care Dressing Line for Wound Management
New dressings help heal existing wounds and prevent pressure injuries.

April 10, 2026 by Laurie Watanabe

Smith+Nephew’s (NYSE:SNN) new line of dressings is designed to help manage existing wounds and to prevent new pressure injuries from forming.

The Allevyn Complete Care dressing line “has a unique five-layer construction with distinct mode of action technologies” that works to minimize leakage while also requiring fewer dressing changes, thus reducing disruptions to the healing process and protecting vulnerable skin.

“Allevyn Complete Care is a true next-generation dressing that reflects our continued commitment to wound care innovation, delivering meaningful benefit where it matters most,” said Rohit Kashyap, Smith+Nephew’s president of advanced wound management in a March news announcement. “Every dressing is designed for strong performance in both wound treatment and pressure injury prevention, helping patients get back to what they love, whilst reducing the costly and complex clinical burden.”

The new dressing line was designed “to lock in significantly more exudate than other foam dressings while keeping over 99% of bacteria away from the wound bed,” the announcement added. “This minimizes leakage, enables longer wear times for undisturbed healing, and has the potential to release over 10% of valuable nursing time.”

“Allevyn Complete Care dressing’s unbonded multilayer structure delivers a distinct mode of action that helps dissipate shear forces before they reach the skin and underlying soft tissues,” said Amit Gefen, professor of biomedical engineering at Tel Aviv University in the announcement. “This pioneering technology protects soft tissue and minimizes the risk of developing a pressure injury.”

The dressing is available in five shapes and a range of sizes to meet all sorts of wound care needs. The Allevyn Complete Care line, initially launched in the United States, will launch in European and other international markets later this year.
