Paralyzed Veterans of America and Wal-Mart To Support

February 1, 2006 by HME Business

The Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) has announced that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has contributed $50,000 to benefit the National Veterans Wheelchair Games (NVWG) and PVA’s National Trapshoot Circuit, two recreational programs designed to enrich the lives of Veterans with disabilities.

“Wal-Mart has been a steadfast supporter of PVA’s recreational programs that benefit veterans with disabilities,” said Randy Pleva, PVA national president. “Because of Wal-Mart’s generosity, veterans with disabilities can look forward to participating in a variety of sporting events they enjoy. Our veterans will benefit greatly from this gift.”

The NVWG has more than 500 disabled veteran athletes from the United States, Great Britain and Puerto Rico who compete annually in 16 summer sporting events. This program has become a vital channel for instilling a sense of competition, camaraderie and athletic achievement in the lives of these veterans.

“We take pride in helping those veterans who have served our country,” said Betsy Reithemeyer, foundation director for Wal-Mart.
