The National Coalition for Assistive and Rehab Technology will host a CRT Briefing and Product Expo on Capitol Hill on April 21 in an effort to increase Congress members’ understanding complex rehab technology and drive support for CRT legislation.
The program will be presented by NCART, the United Spinal Association, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, in coordination with the offices of Reps. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) and Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.). The event’s theme is “Ensuring Access to CRT for People with Disabilities: What Is Complex Rehab Technology? What Congressional Action Is Needed?”
Scheduled from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the event will be held at the House Cannon Building Room 340.
The event includes 20-minute briefings repeated at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., which will each be followed by a Product Expo to give attendees a chance to view and interact with CRT products. The Expo will provide hands-on displays of CRT manual wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, seating and positioning products, and other equipment highlighting how CRT is different from DME.
People with disabilities, clinicians, providers, manufacturers, and other advocates will attend to provide demonstrations and answer questions.
NCART Executive Director Donald Clayback urged providers to get their staff and members of Congress to attend. Providers can visit www.CRTalert.org to download the formal invitation, obtain key details about the event, and send a prepared invitation through its email system.
