Medtrade Preparation Begins

July 1, 2006 by HME Business

The Medtrade Exposition and Conference produced by VNU Expositions will take place Sept. 18-21 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. More than 175 educational events and product displays will be on tap in over 290,000 square feet of exhibit space.

Upcoming Events: Medtrade Spring 2007 &#151 April 25-26 in Las Vegas; Medtrade 2007 &#151 Oct. 2-4 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

“Education for HME providers has never been more important. The many challenges all of us will face in the coming year will require us to stay on top of this ever-changing health care industry,” said Velma Goertzen, general manager of Health-e-Quip in Hutchinson, Kan. “If we do not take the opportunity to stay current by attending the seminars offered at Medtrade and networking with our peers, we cannot blame anyone but ourselves if changes catch us unaware. There are few opportunities available that offer the variety of subjects and speakers such as those offered at Medtrade; our staff looks forward to this opportunity every year.”

The Medtrade 2006 conference program will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 19. This year, the program has been expanded to include two new tracks &#151 leadership and staff development.

“It is essential for HME providers to be informed and aware of the multitude of issues facing the industry. Fortunately, they can do this by participating in the legislative and regulatory issues track that is being presented at Medtrade,” said John Gallagher, vice president of government relations for the VGM Group. “This knowledge can enable them to become active champions of the HME industry and the benefits it provides to patients, healthcare providers and the state of healthcare in the United States. It can also aid them in learning how to develop congressional champions of the industry for the future.”

This year, Medtrade producers have formed a partnership with the National Registry of Rehabilitation Technology Suppliers (NRRTS) to manage the rehabilitation educational track for Medtrade 2006. The partnership with NRRTS will allow rehabilitation providers to have access to timely and relevant educational programming, including sessions by professionals from The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, the University of Pittsburgh and The Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City.
