Graham-Field Launches Made-in-the-USA Bed Line

April 7, 2023 by Laurie Watanabe

Graham-Field Health Products has expanded its lineup of Sub-Acute Care and Extended Care Beds.

In a March 30 news announcement, Graham-Field said the new beds are being made at the manufacturer’s Basic American Bed facility in Fond-du-Lac, Wis., to “take advantage of Graham-Field’s enhanced manufacturing resources to include computer-controlled laser welding, robotic assembly and an upgraded automated coating line.”

Ken Spett, President/CEO of Graham-Field, said in the announcement, “What this translates to for our customers is a product with more features, higher build-quality and a lower price point. As one of the largest healthcare bed manufacturers in the world, we receive constant feedback from our customer base. They are asking for more features at a reduced cost-in-use-over-time product. These new beds deliver on that request.”

The new Basic American Extended Care beds include a new Sleep Deck design for the SLIDE W-I-D-E Sleep Deck and the standard Sleep Deck. Graham-Field noted that the new Sleep Deck “is now an integrated design feature, and the Sleep Deck is adjustable from 80 to 84 inches (203 to 213 cm).”

Graham-Field added that a newly optimized hi-lo system supports higher weight capacities, and an improved control box design “is more intuitive and easier to operate.”

The first phase of the enhanced Basic American Beds rollout will include the Zenith 7200 Extended Care Bed, which is now available.

Cynthia Counts, Graham-Field’s Chief Product Officer, said, “The integration and standardization of key features on these new Extended Care Beds will allow us to reduce SKUs and increase the manufacturing capacity of fewer units. This will reduce our lead times, which is critical factor when our customers require beds. Our Made in USA product strategy has the single objective of higher-quality products brought closer to the customer.”
