Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Board Chair Scott St John will retire following the company’s shareholders’ meeting in August.
In the March 8 announcement, Fisher & Paykel said its board had elected current Director Neville Mitchell to replace St John, who has been the chair since August 2020. St John joined the Fisher & Paykel board in 2015.
“It is generally expected that the company’s non-executive directors will serve for a total period, including re-elections, of approximately nine years,” the announcement said.
Fisher & Paykel added that St John served as board chair during a “transformational period.”
“Under his leadership, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare supplied products that helped millions of patients during the pandemic, purchased land for a second New Zealand campus and expanded its manufacturing footprint in Mexico and China,” the announcement said.
“I’m grateful to have played a part in the company’s growth trajectory and to have worked alongside an exceptional team,” St John said. “Neville will be an excellent board chair. He has a strong track record in the medical devices industry and has outstanding corporate governance experience. I am confident the company will continue to thrive under his leadership.”
“Fisher & Paykel Healthcare is a unique and innovative business, headquartered in New Zealand and with an unwavering commitment to understanding and meeting the needs of patients around the world,” said incoming Board Chair Mitchell. “Scott has led the Board during a pivotal moment in the company’s history, and he has helped to build strong foundations for the future. I look forward to contributing to the company’s growth and success.”
