GF Health Products Inc. (Graham-Field) has partnered with Mercy Ships to help provide care to needy patients in nations with underdeveloped healthcare infrastructure.
As part of the charitable effort, Graham-Field is donating medical equipment to help support Mercy Ships’ surgical care efforts in Africa and other medically underserved locations.
Established in 1978, Mercy Ships is a volunteer-based international charity that provides free healthcare services to medically underserved nations. Mercy Ships has performed more than 79,000 life-saving surgeries in 587 ports, according to the organization.
Mercy Ships provides healthcare to these patients by operating a hospital ship. The ship docks in an impoverished city for 10 months, while treating as many individuals as its staff can.
In addition to healthcare, Mercy Ships also builds schools and clinics in an effort to strengthens communities’ quality of life wherever the ship anchors.
“We are proud to partner with Mercy Ships and its 1,400 volunteers in their mission to make healthcare accessible to developing nations.” said Ken Spett, GF Health Product CEO. “We are specifically supporting their ophthalmic surgery projects in impoverished communities with in-kind donations of our Hausted stretchers.”
