Health Mobius, which provides e-commerce services to HME providers and pharmacies, has merged operations with its sister company Red Moby, a no-fee buying group.
Red Moby offers more than 25,000 products from more than 300 brands across a variety of HME categories to providers at wholesale prices and can ship directly to patients. With the merger with Health Mobius, providers can offer these retail products without having to stock inventory, increase infrastructure, negotiate with vendors, or manage their e-commerce presence.
“What we did to make things easier is … we merged the two companies together,” said Kamal Haddad, CEO of Health Mobius. “So now when someone has an account with us to get a website, and we manage their e-commerce presence, they can also have an account with us to get access to our vendors. … Now it’s all under one umbrella.”
With competition from online retailers, and especially e-commerce giants such as Amazon.com, Haddad said its imperative for the industry to start looking at how it can leverage these kinds of arrangements in order to stay competitive.
“We are not here to compete with industry buying groups and distributors,” he explained. “Rather, we aim to partner with them to provide much needed enhanced services to help independents compete with online giants like Amazon. We have modernized and consolidated group purchasing, incremental retail sales opportunities, central warehousing and technology by connecting vendors to retailers."
Haddad added that Health Mobius will conduct a special educational event at Medtrade related to these combined services.
