In January 2017, DME manufacturer Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare will combine three of its rehab companies — Columbia Medical, Specialized Orthotic Services and Wenzelite Rehab — to form a larger, single business called Inspired by Drive.
The company will be headquartered at Columbia Medical’s current Sante Fe Springs, Calif. site. Inspired by Drive will sell and distribute its products worldwide. These three companies have provided equipment to the pediatric and adult rehabilitation marketplace for a combined total of longer than 70 years.
“Inspired by Drive’s purpose was fueled by a desire to provide special needs children and their families with products that offer the highest clinical value with a visual appearance that disguises the medical nature of the product,” said Doug Francis, principal and co‐founder of Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare.
Inspired by Drive will first focus on enhancing existing products as well as creating new offerings, specifically in three pediatric rehab categories: alternative positioning, bathing, toileting and mobility. Eventually, Inspired by Drive will expand into more complex rehab categories over the next several years.
“Our goal is to create and bring to market products that are representative of how inspired we are by the grace, love and determination that children with special needs, along with their family members, demonstrate in overcoming the challenges they are faced with in daily living,” said Matt Lawrence, vice president and general manager of Drive DeVilbiss Rehabilitation Business.
