Presentations from industry allies Reps. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Renee Ellmers (R-N.C.) will round out a packed agenda at the upcoming 2016 Washington Legislative Conference, which runs May 25 and 26 in Washington, D.C.
In addition to the congressional speakers, issue education sessions, and lobbying tips, the May 25 general session will feature a panel discussion on issues affecting rural providers. Moderated by John Gallagher, vice president of government relations for VGM, and Rose Schafhauser, executive director of the Midwest Association for Medical Equipment Services, the panel will discuss how to address the challenges of serving patients in rural areas, as well as how to discuss these issues with patients and policymakers.
“Conference attendees should make a point to attend the rural panel session, whether or not your company is in a rural area,” said Karyn Estrella, executive director of the Home Medical Equipment and Services Association of New England, who was a leader in organizing the session. “Getting first-hand accounts of the challenges these companies face will be important to convey during your Hill visits.”
