The American Association is preparing for its annual Washington Legislative Conference, which will be held May 20 to 21 at Washington D.C.’s Washington Court Hotel.
The event gives providers an opportunity to meet with lawmakers and lobby on behalf of various industry legislative initiatives. And in that regard, AAHomecare has set an aggressive legislative agenda for the year, that includes, competitive bidding; audit reform; prior authorization; and a separate benefit legislation for complex rehab technology.
The two-day event begins with conference sessions on the first day that help providers understand the issues and how to lobby on their behalf. On the second, providers assemble in their state delegations and head to Capitol Hill to lobby lawmakers. AAHomecare and state association leaders help organize and manage the appointments.
On-site registration begins at 2 p.m. on Tues., May 19 and continues throughout the event, with the event’s main agenda as follows:
Wed., May 20
Noon – Welcome luncheon with keynote speaker
1-5 p.m. – General session, including guest speakers, issue education, and guidance for effective Capitol Hill meetings.
