Numotion Appoints Chief Medical Officer

April 1, 2021 by HME Business

Numotion has appointed Tara Kersten, M.D., as Chief Medical Officer.

In that role, Kersten will provide Numotion with strategic clinical advice, support advocacy efforts, and lend her expertise to outcomes studies.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Kersten at Numotion,” Numotion CEO Mike Swinford said, “She is uniquely positioned to help the company become an ever-more-essential partner to our customers, physicians and referral partners, and we will greatly benefit from her clinical experience in the CRT industry.”

Kersten will also help educate and interact with clinicians and referral sources and help ensure Numotion’s interactions with clinicians, referrals, payers, regulators, and government bodies are grounded in sound clinical research and expertise.

“I’m thrilled to be joining such an awesome group of people who share my passion for improving the quality of life and functional independence of patients across this country,” Kersten said. “I have had the opportunity to work with Numotion ATPs in my interdisciplinary wheelchair seating clinic in Southeast Wisconsin, on legislative efforts to improve access to CRT for patients in Wisconsin, on educational programs for physical and occupational therapists, and through medical mission work on the annual Guatemala trip. I am looking forward to expanding my work with Numotion on a national level.”

A graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin, Kersten is board certified both in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. She practices at Advocate Aurora Health in Milwaukee, Wis., where she focuses on electrodiagnostic testing, spasticity management, and custom wheelchair seating. For longer than five years, Kersten has run, and will continue to run, one of the largest interdisciplinary wheelchair seating clinics in the nation and has been involved in advocating for the rights and benefits of the disability community.
