The Northeast Medical Equipment Providers Association (NEMEP) is urging New York providers to ask their Senate and Assembly members to sign on as co-sponsors to S.5118-A (launched by Sen. Gustavo Rivera) and A.5368-A (led by Assembly Member John McDonald III) and to urge their lawmakers to pass the vital legislation.

The two bills would set a rate floor for reimbursement on DME and complex rehab claims from Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) at no less than 100 percent of the state’s published Medicaid fee schedule for the same services and supplies.

“This is necessary to ensure access to durable medical equipment is protected for Medicaid members who rely on this equipment, including wheelchairs, powered mobility devices, hospital beds, oxygen systems, ventilators and respiratory care supplies, as well as orthotics and prosthetics,” a statement from NEMEP read.

NEMEP worked with the American Association for Homecare to set up a page in AAHomecare’s Action Center that lets DME stakeholders in the Empire State easily send messages to their state lawmakers. It is available at votervoice.net/AAHomecare/campaigns/92833/respond.
