GreenWay Herbal Products Releases University-Developed Line of CBD Products

February 20, 2020 by Haley Samsel

GreenWay Herbal Products has launched Tanasi, a new line of hemp-derived cannabinoid products developed out of a partnership with Middle Tennessee State University researchers.

In order to create its new patent-pending CBD and CBDA formulas, GreenWay funded a $2.5 million research grant to scientists at Middle Tennessee State. The company is calling Tanasi the first university-developed line of CBD products, a collection that includes hemp-derived full spectrum tinctures, lotions, a water-soluble drink concentrate and red panax ginseng extract capsules.

“While consumers can choose from many CBD companies, Tanasi is the first brand to provide a line of hemp extract CBD products developed by a team of PhDs in a university setting,” said Jeff Heeren, CEO of GreenWay Herbal Products. “The combination of CBDA/CBD is the foundation of Tanasi’s products and what sets us apart from others.”

In a previous statement about Tanasi, Heeren noted that the CBDA, or cannabidiol-acid, is present in raw plant material and is the acidic precursor to CBD. The combination of the two in the Tanasi formula differentiates the company from other manufacturers, Heeren said.

“Two compounds work better than one, and we believe our products work better than CBD alone,” Heeren said.

Providers curious about the quantity of cannabinoids in each product can find a third-party Certificate of Analysis (COA) for each batch run on Tanasi’s website. The product line is currently available online and through select independent retailers.
