Vito Morgese, General Manager and Operations Manager at Blue Chip Medical Products, Inc., has been named to the Future Leaders Class of 2026 by HME Business.

To become a Future Leader, an individual is nominated by their peers. The candidate must be a high-performing employee who is 40 years of age or younger, a passionate worker who knows how to put vision into action, and an advocate for older adults and the committed professionals who ensure their well-being.

Morgese sat down with HME Business to share what drew him to the home medical equipment (HME) industry, the biggest leadership lessons he has learned, his thoughts on the future of HME, and much more. HMEB: What drew you to the home medical equipment (HME) industry?

Morgese: My path into healthcare started unexpectedly. I was a Division I baseball player at Bryant University, and when I suffered a career-altering arm injury, I spent months working with athletic trainers, physicians, and therapists throughout my rehabilitation. Seeing the impact they had on my life during such a pivotal time inspired me to pursue a career where I could make that same kind of difference for others.

I began my career in postoperative cold therapy, but about a year later I met Ron Resnick, President at Blue Chip Medical Products. What immediately stood out to me was our ability to design and manufacture our own products and create customized solutions for patients with unique needs. Many of these patients have limited options, and being able to provide equipment that truly improves their quality of life is incredibly rewarding. At Blue Chip, we never lose sight of the fact that behind every order is a person and a family counting on us.

HMEB: How would you describe your leadership style, and how has it changed over time?

Morgese: My leadership style is collaborative and team-oriented. I don’t believe a leader has to have every answer. My responsibility is to bring the right people together, leverage their expertise, and create an environment where the best ideas rise to the top.

Over time, I’ve become more comfortable trusting my team and empowering people to take ownership. Early in my career, I felt I needed to solve every problem myself. Today, I know the strongest organizations are built by developing others, fostering collaboration, and giving people the opportunity to succeed.

HMEB: What is the biggest leadership lesson you’ve learned while serving the HME industry?

Morgese: Trust your team. No leader succeeds alone. When you hire talented people, empower them, and give them the confidence to make decisions, the entire organization becomes stronger. Some of the best solutions come from people closest to the work, and creating a culture where everyone’s voice is valued leads to better outcomes for both employees and patients.

HMEB: In one word, how would you describe the HME industry and why?

Morgese: Essential.

The work we do directly impacts patients’ health, independence, and quality of life. Every product we produce has the potential to improve someone’s daily living, and that’s a responsibility none of us take lightly.

HMEB: What do you see as the biggest opportunities and challenges currently facing the HME industry?

Morgese: The biggest opportunity is the continued shift toward delivering more care in the home. As our population ages and healthcare continues moving outside the traditional hospital setting, the demand for innovative, patient-centered HME solutions will only continue to grow.

At Blue Chip, that’s exactly where we’re focused. Products like our new Pro-Daptive™ SensorCell™ represent the next generation of therapeutic support surfaces by combining advanced pressure redistribution with adaptability to meet the changing needs of patients. The opportunity for our industry is to continue developing technologies that improve clinical outcomes while helping providers deliver more effective care in the home.

The biggest challenge is ensuring patients can access those solutions in an increasingly complex healthcare environment. Providers are navigating reimbursement pressures, regulatory requirements, staffing shortages, and rising costs while still trying to deliver timely, high-quality care. As manufacturers, we have a responsibility to innovate while making it easier for clinicians and providers to get the right products into the hands of the patients who need them.

HMEB: If you had a crystal ball, what do you think will impact the HME industry over the next 5-10 years?

Morgese: Technology will continue to reshape our industry. Artificial intelligence, remote patient monitoring, electronic health records, and the continued shift toward value-based care will fundamentally change how we care for patients and evaluate outcomes. I also believe innovation in therapeutic support surfaces will accelerate.

At Blue Chip, we’re excited about products like the Pro-Daptive™ SensorCell™, which reflects where I believe the industry is headed: smarter, more adaptable solutions that can better meet each patient’s individual needs while supporting caregivers and improving outcomes.

We’ll also continue to see changes in patient demographics and clinical needs. For example, the growing adoption of weight-loss medications may influence demand patterns for therapeutic support surfaces and sizing requirements over time. Manufacturers that remain agile, invest in innovation, and continue listening to clinicians and patients will be best positioned for the future.

HMEB: In your opinion, what qualities must all Future Leaders possess?

Morgese: Adaptability and curiosity.

Healthcare is constantly evolving, and tomorrow’s leaders must be willing to embrace change, ask questions, and continuously learn. The leaders who will make the greatest impact are those who remain open to new ideas, invest in their people, and never lose sight of the patients we ultimately serve.
