Essentially Women is asking for help from its members in California and Arkansas.
Efforts are underway in both states to exempt breast pumps and supplies from sales tax via new state legislation. “This simple and cost-effective solution can improve access to breastfeeding for women at all socioeconomic levels,” Essentially Women said in a social media post.
Californians are being asked to reach out to Assembly members and Senators in support of AB1203. Stakeholders in Arkansas can help by asking their legislators to support HB 1364.
In both states, Essentially Women says eliminating sales tax charges on these items can “improve access to breastfeeding women at all socioeconomic levels, and it’s a solution that is both simple and cost effective.”
