AAHomecare Seeks Homecare Champion Award Nominations
The American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) is seeking nominations for its Van Miller Homecare Champion Award through end of business day on Jan. 23, 2026.
Eligible nominees must be active and engaged members of AAHomecare; must have a long record of service in the home care community; and must be the “embodiment of the spirit of caring and generosity, which are the hallmarks of this profession,” the association said.
The award was renamed in 2016 to honor Van G. Miller, the late founder of VGM & Associates.
The 2025 Van Miller Homecare Champion was Rose Schafhauser, who has served as the executive director of multiple home medical equipment (HME) state supplier associations, as well as worked with many boards and committees in the HME industry.
OIG Releases Video on DME Fraud
The Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has released a video aimed at Medicare beneficiaries.
The video — Combating Durable Medical Equipment [DME] Fraud — was launched Nov. 25.
“Durable medical equipment like wheelchairs, oxygen tanks and glucose monitors is essential for millions of Americans,” a Nov. 26 OIG bulletin said. “But this vital support system is also a frequent target for fraud, costing taxpayers billions and putting patients at risk. OIG is working to stop DME fraud through investigations, audits, evaluations and data analytics.”
The video, which runs 3 minutes and 19 seconds, explains the potential harm caused by fraudsters, including using up the DME benefit of Medicare patients.
