Length of Service (LOS) Management is a relatively new concept for HME providers, but can be one of the best opportunities for them to increase their profitability, according to “The Case for Length of Service Management,” a new report from The Weeks Group Inc.
LOS measures the average number of months that patients are provided with equipment, services, or supplies.
“Its importance has grown with the mounting effect of the numerous reimbursement cuts that payers have enacted over the past decade and a half,” the report says. “Reimbursement cuts in this context are not just reductions in the fee schedules, but also includes: caps on the term that a beneficiary may receive a service; other limitations on the conditions by which a beneficiary may be provided equipment, supplies and services; and, the effects of inflation that have not been offset with fee schedule adjustments.”
The report shows providers how they can leverage LOS Management to foster faster sales growth and improve productivity. To learn more, visit the Weeks Group website at www.weeksgroup.com.
