
Dana McLaughlin
The VGM Group has named its home medical equipment (HME) Woman of the Year for 2023.
In a Dec. 21 news announcement, VGM said Dana McLaughlin had been presented the award in a virtual ceremony. McLaughlin serves as the President of Medical Service Company, headquartered in Cleveland.
The announcement said McLaughlin has a total of 28 years of financial and operational leadership experience in the home healthcare industry. In June 2008, she joined Medical Service Company as its Vice President of Finance. Eventually, she became the company’s Chief Financial Officer, and then became President in July 2022.
A Career of Serving Others
The announcement praised McLaughlin for a career that “has been marked by a dedication to serving others, believing that leadership in the healthcare industry has the power to positively impact our most vulnerable populations. She takes great pride in her commitment to better patient lives through compassionate care. McLaughlin also enjoys mentoring other women in the industry, helping them gain confidence in themselves so they may achieve personal and professional growth.”
The HME Woman of the Year Award, now in its eighth year, is presented annually by The VGM Group to a woman “who has made significant contributions throughout her career to her company, community, and the HME industry.”

2023 Finalists Also Honored
In the announcement, McLaughlin said, “I am truly honored to receive the 2023 HME Woman of the Year Award. Whether you work directly with patients or not, what we as HME professionals do matters. I am humbled to be recognized alongside such inspiring industry leaders.”
The 2023 HME Woman of the Year finalists were Deb Holman, Chief Compliance Officer, Hart Medical; Jami Tharp, Office Manager, Senior Billing Specialist and Human Resource Manager, Choice Medical; and Heather Yi, Vice President, Customer Success, Brightree.
Medical Service Company is described on its Web site as a “post-acute healthcare provider that specializes in chronic-respiratory disease management.” Founded in 1950 by Merle and Jean Marx, the company is currently led by Chairman Joel Marx and Chief Executive Officer Josh Marx. Medical Service Company has more than three dozen locations in Indiana, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
