VGM Advocacy will be participating in a celebration marking the 20th anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act July 24 at the Iowa state capitol in Des Moines.
VGM is also working with the Waterloo Human Rights Commission for the local, July 18 ADA celebration at the Waterloo Bucks game at Riverfront Stadium. In addition to the baseball game, a picnic in the park is planned with events beginning at 2 p.m.
In Des Moines, planned activities, sponsored by the Iowa Civil Rights Commission and its VISTA Project, will include a 10:30 a.m. speech by Sen. Tom Harkin, who authored the landmark legislation, and VGM Advocacy will work with VGM Member Hammer Medical of Des Moines in an information booth from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“VGM is proud to participate in these events marking the ADA anniversary, and hope people will join us in celebrating the abilities of so many of our citizens,” said Kelly Turner, VGM Group director of advocacy.
