Member service company and buying group the VGM Group Inc.’s Heartland Conference, an annual conference and expo for HME providers, received the 2014 Cedar Valley Tourism Award for “Event of the Year.”
The Heartland Conference attracts more than 1,000 attendees and exhibitors from the United States and Canada to downtown Waterloo, Iowa, and in addition to several days of conferences features social events including a hog roast, a fireworks display and a themed party.
The “Event of the Year” award is given to an event or festival that generates significant economic impact; attracts a substantial number of out-of-town visitors; generates positive media attention; or positively promotes the Cedar Valley as a destination. Award winners are chosen by “public voting” via an online survey.
“Our goal every year is to provide a superior educational conference for our membership, while showing off our Cedar Valley hospitality and charm,” said Sarah Eisenman, events manager at VGM Group Inc. “The conference brings crowds to downtown Waterloo, primarily to the Five Sullivan Brothers Center and downtown restaurants and bars. We will also provide transportation to Main Street Cedar Falls for shopping, and to the VGM campus and brand-new John Deere Museum for tours.”
“We’re honored to receive this award that combines the two things I care about deeply, our VGM members and the Cedar Valley,” noted Van Miller, CEO and founder of the VGM Group Inc.
This year’s VGM Heartland Conference will be held on June 15-18. More information and to register visit www.vgmheartland.com.
