VGM Government Relations noted it’s a good opportunity for providers to meet lawmakers at their townhalls during that time.
“Townhall events typically cost no money to attend and provide you with an opportunity to address your Senator or member of Congress directly about your issues and concerns,” a statement from VGM read.
Providers can visit their Representative’s official web page to find out when they are hosting a town hall or similar meet-and-greet event.
Advocacy points providers can discuss with lawmakers include:
- The importance of Medicare beneficiaries’ access to quality services and products.
- That the lawmaker asks CMS to release the DME Proposed Rule so the HME industry can prepare for any significant changes in Medicare policy.
- That the reimbursement rates for HME during the COVID-19 public health emergency remain in place after HHS ends the PHE.
- That home medical equipment suppliers be included in PPE and vaccine distribution.
To help providers, VGM has made a one-page PDF document detailing HME industry issues that providers can print and give to their lawmakers.
