The Scooter Store Recognizes National Corporate Compliance and Ethics Week

July 1, 2006 by HME Business

The SCOOTER Store, a supplier of power wheelchairs and scooters for the mobility impaired, recently celebrated National Corporate Compliance and Ethics Week with advocacy for higher standards of compliance and customer care within the durable medical equipment industry.

The company joins professional compliance organizations and other businesses across the country in recognition of its ongoing education efforts to reinforce its commitments to integrity, ethics and compliance to laws and regulations.

Activities undertaken during the week reflect the company’s mission of setting and achieving the highest standards regarding compliance and ethics. Those standards cover quality improvement, fiscal management, risk and safety, corporate training and operating instructions for those who receive products and services. Maintaining these standards led to The SCOOTER Store being accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care Inc. in 2003.

“The SCOOTER Store has been a strong proponent of mandatory third-party accreditation and is looking forward to our 2006 assessment by ACHC of our processes and policies,” said Mike Pfister, company president. “It’s a testament to our core ideologies and our philosophical commitment to ‘Always do the right thing’ that we are pushing ourselves to achieve even higher standards.”

“Congress’ passage of legislation like the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, which recognizes the important role of compliance programs for organizations that desire to maintain an ethical and law abiding workplace, signals a commitment to the values that The SCOOTER Store lives by every day,” Pfister said. “It is appropriate that we celebrate our dedication to these goals throughout this week and beyond.”
