sovaSage Launches AI Function to Support PAP Patients, Sleep Apnea Suppliers
The Clinical Indicator Intelligence function helps to identify patients in danger of abandoning their equipment.

July 10, 2026 by Laurie Watanabe

sovaSage has launched Clinical Indicator Intelligence, part of the company’s Jeanie artificial intelligence system, that helps suppliers of sleep apnea equipment to identify patients who need more support — before those patients potentially abandon their prescribed sleep regimens.

“Using machine learning, the new capability continuously analyzes multiple PAP [positive airway pressure] therapy variables to help providers identify patients who may require additional clinical evaluation before therapy challenges lead to reduced benefit or treatment abandonment,” sovaSage said in a July 9 announcement. “The enhancement improves identification of patients experiencing elevated central apnea events and other therapy patterns that may indicate reduced treatment effectiveness.”

The Clinical Indicator system, however, does not universally provide notifications based on elevated PAP pressure alone. “Instead, sovaGuide evaluates pressure alongside additional therapy variables to provide a more comprehensive assessment of therapy performance,” Pittsburgh-based sovaSage noted. “Each Clinical Indicator notification includes a detailed therapy summary and longitudinal usage history sourced directly from the PAP manufacturer’s clinical management software, giving providers immediate access to the clinical data supporting each notification.”

“Patient engagement alone isn’t always enough,” said William Kaigler, CEO of sovaSage. “Some patients remain engaged, but continue to struggle because their therapy is not achieving the desired clinical outcome. Clinical Indicator Intelligence helps providers recognize these patients earlier, allowing support before frustration leads to therapy discontinuation.”

Kaigler added that Clinical Indicator Intelligence was not created to replace clinical judgment and that treatment decisions and patient management “remain the responsibility of the treating healthcare provider.”

“Our mission has always been to combine artificial intelligence with behavioral science and clinical insight to improve patient outcomes,” added said. “Clinical Indicator Intelligence represents another step toward delivering smarter, more proactive care that supports both providers and the patients they serve.”
