Respironics Rolls Out Drop-Ship Service

June 20, 2008 by HME Business

Respironics, Inc. has introduced SupplyDirect, a direct-to-patient drop-ship service. Provided through Respironics subsidiary Respironics Logistics Services, SupplyDirect helps providers order OSA replacement supplies for patients via the web portal at my.respironics.com. The supplies are then shipped directly from Respironics’ warehouse to patients for a flat fee.

“Our goal is to support homecare providers in delivering effective sleep therapy via a comprehensive patient care plan, including supply replacement,” says Laurie Scott, Respironics U.S. marketing manager for patient interface. “SupplyDirect helps providers reduce inventory-related costs, enabling them to increase their focus on patient care and additional growth opportunities.”

The replacement OSA supplies include masks, headgear, cushions, tubing, filters, chinstraps and humidifier water chambers. Providers are able to order, track and confirm receipt on-line via the site, which also provides all support documentation and tracking needed for medical billing and patient inquiries, while maintaining patient confidentiality.

“As a provider whose entire focus is treating patients with sleep apnea, we’re always looking for ways to improve patient care and patient outcomes,” said Todd Cressler, President of CressCare Medical. “SupplyDirect from Respironics has enabled us to streamline our processes.  We now are spending less time managing inventory and more time focusing on new patient set-ups and follow-up care.  We have been able to grow our business without increasing expenses.”

To get started, providers should work with their Respironics account managers to sign agreements and complete set-up forms. Providers will then receive a drop-ship account number and instructions for how to begin placing and tracking SupplyDirect orders using the site.
