QS/1 Exec to Lead Pharmacy IT Association

February 6, 2019 by Leila McNeill

Sonny Anderson, vice president of technology at HME and pharmacy software company QS/1, has been elected president of the American Society for Automation in Pharmacy (ASAP).

Anderson was elected as the ASAP’s 15th president during the association’s annual meeting in Kiawah Island, S.C. on Jan. 24. Anderson’s two-year term follows that of previous president Michael Podgurski.

ASAP promotes the role that technology plays in assisting and educating pharmacists in improving efficiency and patient safety. As an active member of ASAP, Anderson “brings to the board an understanding of ASAP’s mission and a background in IT that is certain to benefit the organization,” Bill Lockwood, ASAP’s executive director said.

"I am delighted to be the 15th President of ASAP,” Anderson said on his election to president. “The list of past presidents is impressive and distinguished. As someone who has spent their entire career participating in the creation of technology solutions for pharmacy, this is a true honor for me. I look forward to the opportunity of serving such a great organization, its members and future members."

In his role as president, Anderson has set out to increase the participation from both pharmacy software management vendors and other technology vendors that provide integration for enhancing pharmacy automation. The ultimate objective is to bring vendors together to learn more about how automation can improve efficiency and give pharmacy staff more time to spend with patients and to improve the health of their communities.
