Pride Mobility’s Meuser Announces Congressional Run

November 1, 2007 by HME Business

Pride USA’s president, Dan Meuser, is running for Congress. Meuser announced that he’ll seek the Republican nomination in the race for Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District. He is expected to take a leave of absence from Pride to campaign full time.

The seat Meuser is running for is now held by Democrat Chris Carney, who defeated Republican incumbent Don Sherwood in 2006 with 53 percent of the vote. Carney’s victory surprised many observers because Sherwood won his House seat in 2004 with 86 percent of the vote.

The 10th district, located in the state’s northeast corner and bordering both New York and New Jersey, is the largest in Pennsylvania.

Meuser joined Pride in 1987 when the company was known as Pride Health Care. He is credited with helping the company become recognized as a leading designer, developer and manufacturer of mobility products. In announcing his candidacy, Meuser cited his experience working on HME-industry issues with Pennsylvania’s senators and Michael Leavitt, secretary of Health & Human Services. Meuser belongs to the Senatorial Inner Circle Commission and serves on the financial committee for the Pennsylvania State Republican Committee. He is also honorary chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee Business Advisory Council. Meuser served on the Board of the National Coalition for Assistive & Rehab Technology and is a board member of the American Association for Homecare.
