Pride Mobility Touts Manufacturing Growth

May 17, 2018 by Joshua Bolkan

Pride Mobility is celebrating the rapid expansion of one of its newer manufacturing facilities, Pride Mississippi, which makes power lift recliners (PLR).

The facility, located in Pontotoc Mississippi, has expanded from 100 employees when it opened in 2016 to 156 employees today. At the same time, the manufacturing floor has increased over the past two years to take up 100,000 square feet of the 240,000 total.

Though the Pontotoc plant opened in 2016, the company has a long history of manufacturing in the United States, having produced power lift recliners exclusively in Pennsylvania from 1986 until the early 2000s.

"At that point, due to increased market demand, we dual-sourced manufacturing, including in the southern U.S.," said Mark Smith, general manager for public relations at Pride, in an email exchange. "In recent years, with our continued growth and focus on U.S. manufacturing and quality, we opened Pride Mississippi as our wholly-owned, vertically-integrated flagship power lift recliner manufacturing facility."

“When we opened Pride Mississippi, we made an investment not just in manufacturing the highest-quality power lift recliners, but also to invest in the local people of generational craftsmen who make it all possible,” said Micah Swick, director of Pride sales, in a prepared statement. “The response from our customers has been tremendous, with growth and product demand that proves the strength of made-in-the-USA manufacturing in the PLR market.”
