Pride Mobility Products Corp. has launched its 2009 Pride University Seminar Tour, a 29-city series that starts on Feb. 12 in Charlotte, N.C. and continues through September, with a final stop in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., near the company’s headquarters.
Pride Mobility and Quantum have held the annual tour, which provides continuing education units via courses approved by the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences, since 2000. The series also includes sessions from Pride experts in fields such as product research, design, testing, electronics, mechanical functionality, and funding.
Topics include PMD documentation, technical service, retail mobility, advanced electronics and seating and positioning. Also, Pride’s RESNA prep course will be offered in select cities, along with a new Business Solutions course, which aims to deliver economically sound, patient-first business solutions to help Providers succeed in a challenging marketplace.
The 2009 tour’s speakers will include industry experts such as Jenny M. Lieberman, MSOTR/L, ATP, who oversees the Wheelchair Clinic in the Outpatient Rehabilitation Department at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, N.Y., and Christine Maurer, MPT, ATP, who serves as a Seating and Mobility Clinical Therapist at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Ga.
Also, Bryan Anderson, Quantum Rehab spokesperson and a decorated Iraqi War veteran who lost both legs and one hand in 2005 when his military Humvee encountered an explosive device, will serve as the keynote speaker at several Seminar Tour locations. Bryan will attend the Anaheim, Calif., seminar on May 14 and 15, the South Bend, In., seminar on July 14 and 15, and the Boston, Ma, seminar on Aug. 19 and 20.
