June 6, 2019 by Kaitlyn DeHaven

MedTech Breakthrough unveiled its 2019 MedTech Breakthrough Award winners and two companies in the HME space, ResMed and Parachute Health, both received awards.

MedTech Breakthrough’s annual awards showcase innovative technologies and companies involved with medical- and health-related technology solutions. There are ten overarching categories in the competition:

  • Industry Leadership
  • Patient Engagement
  • Electronic Health Records
  • Internet-of-Things (IoT) Healthcare
  • Medical Data
  • Clinical and Health Administration
  • Health and Fitness
  • Mobile Communications & TeleHealth
  • Medical Device
  • Healthcare Cybersecurity

In the case of ResMed, the company’s AirMini travel CPAP was the winner of MedTech Breakthrough’s Best Overall Medical Device Product of 2019. Parachute Health won the award for Best New Technology Solution – e-Prescribing.

MedTech Breakthrough award winners exemplify the progress and momentum digital innovations are driving within the larger healthcare market, according to James Johnson, the managing director of MedTech Breakthrough.

“We were blown away by the outstanding award nominations for new ‘breakthrough’ digital health and medical technologies that are driving another breakout year for the MedTech industry, from groundbreaking digital therapies to connected health services, healthcare insurance innovation, and new artificial intelligence (AI) and data-based patient services and patient engagement solutions,” he added.

This year, the awards program received more than 3,500 nominations from more than 15 different countries. The nominations were evaluated and chosen based on a variety of criteria including innovation, design and user-experience, and overall technological advancement.
