Össur has launched a fully automated, AI-integrated DMEPOS practice and workflow management solution for orthopedic providers and hospital systems in the United States.
In a Sept. 23 news announcement, Össur said EmpowerX is “designed to streamline workflows, reduce errors and enhance patient care” while giving clinicians the freedom “to focus on delivering excellent patient care by automating product procurement and purchase order management, efficient inventory oversight, and effortless dispensing of bracing and supports.”
EmpowerX —HIPAA compliant and compatible with HL7 data sharing standards — also “seamlessly handles insurance verification, automatically conducts same-or-similar checks, and includes Medicare ABN [Advance Beneficiary Notice of Noncoverage] requirements.”
The system provides real-time tracking and data analytics, which automates reordering and forecasting demand to reduce waste and costs.
“Its speed and comprehensiveness are further enhanced with proprietary artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, a feature built leveraging Microsoft Azure AI,” the announcement added.

Össur said its new system would give orthopedic teams the ability to focus on clinical matters.
