The Orthotic and Prosthetic Group of America (OPGA) is now accepting nominations for the 2024 O&P Woman of the Year Award.
The award program, sponsored by orthopedic manufacturer Össur, is open to all women who work in the orthotics and prosthetics industry, according to a June 4 OPGA announcement.
“Nominators are encouraged to provide examples of how the nominee has made significant contributions throughout her career to serve her patients, community, business, and the O&P profession,” the announcement added.
The 2023 winner was Nikki Grace-Strader, director of North American operations with Osseointegration International Inc., a team of medical professionals who specialize in osseointegration surgery. Osseointegration is the insertion of a prosthetic implant into an amputee’s residual bone, which enables the direct attachment of an external prosthesis to the skeleton, the organization said.
“We are thrilled to continue recognizing the outstanding women in the O&P profession with the O&P Woman of the Year Award,” said Adam Miller, president of OPGA. “Now in its eighth year, this award not only shines a light on women who contribute significantly to the O&P profession, but helps promote the overall importance of the profession and the patients we serve every day.”
Nominations can be submitted online by the July 12 deadline. The award will be presented Sept. 13 during the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association’s National Assembly, taking place in Charlotte, North Carolina.
