The provider formerly known as Motion Specialties has 46 offices in five Canadian provinces.

July 11, 2025 by Laurie Watanabe

Numotion is in the process of acquiring Motion, the Canadian provider of mobility products, Complex Rehab Technology, and home accessibility equipment.

Motion “has entered into a definitive agreement to join forces with Numotion, the recognized leader in Complex Rehab and independence solutions,” Numotion said in a July 2 press release. “The transaction will unite two industry leaders, enhancing their collective ability to better serve individuals living with disabilities across North America.”

Numotion’s announcement added that the financial terms of the transaction would not be disclosed.

“The partnership between Numotion and Motion brings together two organizations with closely aligned cultures, values and business philosophies, providing mutually beneficial opportunities for employees, clients and communities,” said Mike Swinford, Numotion’s CEO, in the announcement. “We have a strong, long-standing relationship with the Motion management team and have been collaborating for nearly 10 years, so the combination of our businesses allows us to take that approach even further to the benefit our collective clients.”

“We are very excited to join Numotion, which brings proven scale and expertise to unlock new growth opportunities and continued innovation, while preserving the quality of care Canadians have come to rely on from Motion,” said Sue Gilpin, Motion’s CEO. “We remain committed to delivering excellent client experience through community engagement and high-quality products and services that make life accessible for Canadians.”

Motion serves patients via 46 offices in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan, and “will continue to operate as a stand-alone, Canadian-based entity headquartered in Ontario,” the announcement said. The Motion leadership team and brand will also be retained.

“With a strong track record and enhanced resources, Numotion is expected to build on Motion’s existing client reach, further improve service delivery, and invest in learning and development for Motion’s excellent care team and care partners,” the announcement added.

Motion provides complex seating and wheeled mobility for children and adults, consumer power wheelchairs, standard manual wheelchairs, scooters, walking aids, lift chairs, beds and support surfaces, commodes and hygiene systems, and home accessibility products

The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of this year.
