After announcing that Medtrade would move to one event in a central location in 2023, event company Emerald has scheduled the annual conference and expo to run March 28-30 in Dallas.
Specifically, the event will be held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in the Convention Center District in downtown Dallas.
“Switching to one show per year was motivated by feedback from attendees and exhibitors,” Medtrade Show Director York Schwab said. “Moving the show to Dallas is part of the same equation. Dallas is centrally located with reasonably priced lodging, exhibitor friendly rules, first-rate transportation, great restaurants, and lots of non-stop flights arriving from countless cities.”
Moreover, attendees and exhibitors specifically asked for Dallas, according to Sarah Varner, vice president of Marketing, Medtrade.
“The move to one show is exciting, and Dallas is a wonderful location,” Varner noted. “Attendees and exhibitors wanted Dallas more than any other city, and we have responded.”
“The majority of attendees and exhibitors wanted one central show as a rallying point for the industry,” Schwab added. “They wanted it in Dallas and they wanted it in the spring to properly launch the new year. We listened, and we are looking forward to a new era in 2023.”
Another of the key details to be revealed for the event was its length, with Medtrade officials considering either a three- or four-day event. The decision to go with a three-day show aimed to pack a lot of content and expo time into an efficient timeframe.
“Time is money and we believe three days offer tremendous value for people who are looking to get out of the office, but not for too long,” Schwab explained.
In related news, the Dallas City Council voted in February to replace the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center with a new facility, with construction slated to begin 2024. Schwab said the section of the center where Medtrade is located should not be affected until 2027. (See more about the convention center masterplan).
