In a June 11 news announcement, Invacare, based in Elyria, Ohio, said the mattress is “designed to elevate patient care through exceptional comfort and support, tailored for a variety of care environments. This new mattress sets a new standard in the cost-value paradigm, providing an unparalleled, cost-effective solution with features aimed at improving the overall care experience.”

The Essentials Mattress is made with high-quality, 1.8-lb. density foam that’s been CertiPUR-US certified. The mattress features five distinct convoluted zones to “enhance surface contact and provide superior comfort for the head, trunk and feet,” the announcement said.

A non-skid bottom cover keeps the mattress in place even during head/knee articulation. The fluid-proof nylon woven cover prevents fluid from entering, and the smooth cover reduces shear and friction while being easy to clean. The three-sided zipper facilitates quick and easy foam inspection.

The mattress is compliant with 16 CFR 1632, 16 CFR 1633, and CAL TB 129 flammability standards. Invacare provides a five-year warranty on the foam and a one-year warranty on the cover.

The Essentials Mattress is available in sizes 36×80 inches, 36×84 inches, 42×80 inches, and 42×84 inches; all mattresses are six inches high.
