HME Speaks Out at White House Discussion

April 10, 2009 by HME Business

On Wednesday, Counselor to the President and Director of the White House Office of Health Reform Nancy-Ann DeParle held a healthcare reform discussion on with various healthcare industry stakeholders, including Invacare Chairman and CEO Mal Mixon.
The group included small business owners, insurers, healthcare professionals, advocacy groups, and manufacturers to share their views on the country’s need for healthcare reform.
“Every patient in every hospital or nursing home dreams of one thing: going  home,” Mixon said. “Homecare is the only trifecta in the healthcare system — it is patient preferred, has better clinical outcomes, and is significantly more cost effective than institutional care.”
The Health  Care  Stakeholder  Discussion  was  part of a continuing series  of  conversations  that  began  last  December, when approximately 30,000 Americans  took  part in 3,200 Healtcare Community Discussions around the country.
