HMEB: Tell us about the AeroWalk Ultra-Lite Rollator, including its top features and benefits.

Ahern: The AeroWalk Ultra-Lite Rollator was engineered to bring rollator users sleek, lightweight performance at an accessible price point. At less than 15 pounds, the aluminum frame provides exceptional maneuverability while maintaining durability. Seamless, weld-free construction not only creates a sleek aesthetic but enhances structural integrity, while the concealed brake cable system improves both safety and longevity by protecting from snags and damage. The AeroWalk is available in two seat heights: 20” standard height, and 23” tall.

HMEB: In designing this product, what were the top goals of the design team/engineers? What did they most seek to achieve?

Ahern: The top goals were to create a lightweight, highly maneuverable rollator that is sturdy and strong, yet portable and easy to lift.

HMEB: Who and/or what were the inspirations for your winning product’s functionality, features and design elements?

Ahern: We gave the AeroWalk a modern aesthetic to distinguish it from other rollators — it features a patented design with clean lines and an elegant profile, which is, in part, due to its weld-free construction.

HMEB: Who benefits from your product? Can you offer a “typical” client profile?

Ahern: Individuals requiring mobility assistance to achieve independence, such as those recovering from surgery, or with conditions like arthritis, multiple sclerosis, or stroke recovery, who are interested in mobility aids that are both functional and attractive.

HMEB: Does your winning product offer adjustability or customizability for the different needs of different consumers/users?

Ahern: The AeroWalk stands apart with its unique height and depth-adjustable backrest, allowing users to find optimal lumbar support positioning. It is also available in two seat heights: 20” standard height, and 23” tall. It features adjustable handle heights of 31.5″ – 35.4″ (standard) and 31.5″ – 37.3″ (tall).

HMEB: How does your winning product optimize independence, function, safety, confidence, success with everyday goals, etc., for its users?

Ahern: The incredibly stylish AeroWalk Ultra-Lite Rollator provides users with an ultralightweight mobility device that is easy to fold and stow in both car trunks and closets for easy travel and space-saving storage. Adjustable height handles and a backrest with adjustable depth settings ensure a comfortable fit for users of all sizes. Discreetly routed brake cables provide a sleek look and reduce trip hazards. The AeroWalk is the full package for customers looking for a mobility solution that is both functional and attractive.

HMEB: What funding options are available for this product?

Ahern: Both the AeroWalk Tall and Standard have HCPCS Code E0143 + E0156. They are available on our website and are also sold in stores, retail markets, and on Amazon.

HMEB: What makes a product or service an HME Business New Product Award winner? What advice do you have for future entrants?

Ahern: Always keep the consumer’s needs and preferences in mind, but also push the envelope to develop products that surpass the standard in mobility support.
