Harmar Grand Prix

October 1, 2001 by HME Business

This year, for the first time, Medtrade 2001 will feature the Harmar Grand Prix, sponsored by Harmar Mobility, Sarasota, Fla. Wheelchair and scooter manufacturers will demonstrate their products on a 100-foot by 78-foot track during the three-day show. Company drivers will be competing for the Harmar Cup trophy in specialized and customized chairs and scooters.

Beginning October 23, there will be trial races in four classes: three-wheel scooters; four-wheel scooters; power chairs; and an “unlimited class” of power chairs and scooters. All four classes will race on October 24 and the final Grand Prix competition will be held on October 25. “We’re looking forward to the races. They pit the best scooters and power wheelchairs in the world against each other, and put innovative technologies to the test,” said Louis Feuer, educational director for Medtrade.

Track sponsors are Advance Newsmagazines, Interstate Battery, PDQ Mobility, Teftec and Varilite. Race team sponsors include DCC Shoprider, Golden Technologies, PDQ Mobility, Permobil, Pride, Sunrise, Teftec and more.

“We’re delighted to be sponsoring this outstanding event. We expect the competition to be intense and a real crowd pleaser,” said Judson Branch, director of marketing of Harmar Mobility.
