Industry veteran Gary Sheehan has joined Darby to become the company’s new Growth Advisor.
In a Dec. 4 announcement, Darby — which described itself as “supercharging home medical equipment (HME) intake teams by providing AI-enabled order-processing technology” — said Sheehan’s hire is well timed. Darby “recently released a new version of its Smart Intake product and is currently rolling it out to early-adopter HME providers,” the announcement said. “Gary’s industry knowledge and leadership is propelling Darby into this next phase of growth.”
Prior to this latest venture, Sheehan chaired the board of the Home Medical Equipment and Services Association of New England (HOMES), served as Vice Chairman of the Board for the American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare), and served on Brightree’s Executive Advisory Board. Sheehan was named a Van Miller Homecare Champion in 2017.
“I’m thrilled to expand my work with Darby and help the team bring this exciting automation technology to market,” Sheehan said in the announcement. “HME providers continue to buckle under the burden of manual processes and workflows and struggle in a low margin environment to find opportunities to enhance cycle times and automate manual tasks. Darby’s technology roadmap provides significant opportunity for innovative providers to enhance their operations, scale more effortlessly and support their key team members who continue to struggle with too many manual processes. I’m happy to work with leaders across HME to better understand how Darby can help.”
Darby was founded by Charlotte Lawson, M.D., a board-certified emergency physician who, the Darby Web site says, “realized how magical it can be for patients to receive treatment in their homes, but she was dismayed to learn that behind the scenes delivering this care is a huge headache — particularly for office workers wading through lengthy, messy and often incomplete pdfs. At Darby, we know it doesn’t have to be this way.”
The Darby Web site describes its services as “smart intake” that “automates pdf order processing, slashing time and costs to keep your business ahead of the curve.”
