MatrixCare is now an independent company with a new CEO.
In a Sept. 1 announcement, Frazier Healthcare said it acquired MatrixCare from Resmed, and appointed Jonathan Lujan to take over as MatrixCare’s CEO.
The announcement described MatrixCare as a leading provider of cloud-based electronic health record (EHR) and revenue cycle management (RCM) solutions for out-of-hospital care settings, including skilled nursing, senior living, home health, hospice, and life plan communities. MatrixCare has integrated with home medical equipment management platforms such as Brightree, also owned by Resmed.
“As a standalone company, MatrixCare gains greater flexibility, faster decision-making, and the ability to invest directly in the platform and innovation its customers rely on,” the company said in its announcement.
Resmed acquired MatrixCare in 2018 for $750 million.
Lujan most recently was CEO of Sight Growth Partners, “where he led the company’s operational transformation and growth into one of the nation’s largest ophthalmology management organizations,” the announcement said. “Previously, he served as vice president and general manager of Lifeline Vascular Care at DaVita and held multiple executive leadership roles at Surgical Information Systems, including chief growth officer and senior vice president of business development and strategy. Earlier in his career, Mr. Lujan held leadership positions at GE Healthcare and J.P. Morgan’s Healthcare Investment Banking Group.”
“Today marks an important milestone for MatrixCare,” Lujan noted on Sept. 1. “As an independent company, we have the focus and the resources to invest directly in our platform and our people. We will build on more than 40 years of trust earned with skilled nursing, senior living, home health, and hospice providers, and we will move faster to deliver the innovation our customers need. This is the start of MatrixCare’s next chapter, and I’m excited to lead the team into it.”
MatrixCare currently supports more than 15,000 skilled nursing, senior living, long-term care and life plan communities, along with home health and hospice businesses.
