Florida Man Named Winner of Vehicle Accessibility Package in MobilityWorks, VMI Sweepstakes

October 29, 2019 by Haley Samsel

Vantage Mobility International have named a winner in their Driving Forward Together Sweepstakes: Mike Fritz of Mount Dora, Fla., who has been awarded $12,000 toward an accessibility conversion package on his newly purchased Dodge Grand Caravan.

Fritz’s family has two members who use mobility devices in their daily lives: his wife, Sandra, who uses a scooter and walker, and their daughter MacKenzie, who uses a wheelchair. The couple recently purchased a used VMI Dodge Grand Caravan from a MobilityWorks location in Clermont, Fla.

“When Mike entered VMI’s Driving Forward Together Sweepstake the first day it opened back in January, I never thought we would win,” Sandra Fritz said in a statement. “So, when I picked up the phone and heard they selected his name, I started crying with joy because Mike has always worked so hard to take care of our family.”

The Verge II E conversion package, which will be installed on the Fritz family van, will lower the car floor and add an in-floor rear entry ramp. MacKenzie and Sandra will now be able to get in and out without leaving their scooter and wheelchair, according to a release from MobilityWorks and VMI. The front seat will also become removable to create more flexible seating options in the van.

“This conversion package makes everything so much easier for our entire family and I am grateful to both MobilityWorks and VMI,” Mike Fritz said.

The company plans to announce one more winner for the second round of the sweepstakes, according to VMI’s Facebook page.

“We are so happy for Mike, Sandra and MacKenzie, and we are proud to be a part of the VMI family that supports our mission for accessibility for all,” said Chris Paczak, the chief marketing officer at MobilityWorks.
