Fisher & Paykel Healthcare’s (NZX: FPH) F&P Nova Nasal mask has been launched in the United States.
The company’s newest intervention for sleep apnea patients was built on the successful F&P Nova Micro and F&P Solo masks, and “delivers advanced technology to enhance mask performance and support patient adherence to PAP therapy,” Fisher & Paykel said in a Jan. 12 news announcement.
“When designing F&P Nova Nasal, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare set out to create a mask that delivers strongly in the key areas that define performance: easy fitting, stable seal and a sound sleep,” the manufacturer added.
The Nova Nasal’s SwingFit headgear is designed to allow users “to simply anchor the cushion on the nose, swing the headgear around their head, and secure with one click,” Fisher & Paykel said. “The headgear naturally aligns to the frame for easy fastening.”
The comfortable RollFit cushion and pivoting clips conform to the patient’s nose to provide a stable seal. The cushion rolls as the patient moves, an ability that helps to prevent leaks in whichever sleeping position the user prefers.
To support a good night’s sleep for both patient and partner, the washable diffuser minimizes noise and draft.
Additional features include structured side arms to support a stable seal while also providing a clear field of view. The company’s soft AirEdge fabric covers the arms to help prevent marks on the user’s face.
“For added versatility, the mask includes an optional tube clip, allowing patients to position the tube up and over the head or wear it down, depending on their preference,” Fisher & Paykel added.
The company said 91% of F&P Nova Nasal mask trial users reported the SwingFit headgear was intuitive to use, while 98% said they could sleep in their preferred positions while using the mask and could move freely without leaks. All of the trial users said the noise level as they slept was quiet or very quiet.
“With more than 25 years of innovation behind us, we know the mask is key to PAP therapy success,” said Steve Wilson, VP sales and marketing, North America. “F&P Nova Nasal complements our range of high-performance masks, giving patients options that fit their needs and lifestyle.”
Fisher & Paykel, based in Auckland, New Zealand, is hosting a Jan. 19 webinar to introduce the new mask. The webinar starts at 1 p.m. Eastern and is free to attend.
