Egolet Names New Medical Products Director

May 14, 2009 by HME Business

Danish patient transfer device maker Ergolet has named safe patient transfer expert Marsha Medlin, RN as its new director of medical products.
Medlin, who holds Masters of Public Administration, has extensive experience in caregiver safety, serving previously in management positions for Select Medical Corp., several major hospitals and her own company focusing on safe lifting. She was CEO of four hospitals, including Select Specialty Hospital and Intensiva Hospital in Kansas City, and SSH Camp Hill and SSH York Hospitals in Pennsylvania.
Medlin has developed healthcare worker training programs to avoid back injury. She was trained in the “Back Injury Resource Nurse” program, and in turn has trained hundreds of peer leaders among nurses and therapists to improve safety and reduce worker compensation costs.
“We have too many people getting injured while caring for others,” Medlin said. “We need to teach nurses and caregivers at home that in order for them to be available for their patients or loved ones, they need to take care of themselves by avoiding lifting injuries.”
Medlin’s duties will include training on safe patient transfer techniques to Ergolet’s North American customers and dealer network.
