Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare is marking 135 years in the respiratory business by hosting a free virtual event.
The Nov. 15 presentation, called “The Future of Home Respiratory Care: Understanding the Past to Navigate What Comes Next,” will be led by Joseph Lewarski, MHA, RRT, FAARC, Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare’s Senior Vice President.
In a Nov. 1 announcement, Drive DeVilbiss said Lewarski’s presentation “will trace the history of the respiratory field to help today’s providers better understand pressing challenges now facing the field, including the changing image and value proposition of home respiratory care
organizations and current legal and regulatory challenges.”
The hour-long Webinar will include a Q&A session. Registration is free.
“From its inception by Dr. Allen DeVilbiss, a Civil War veteran who invented the first atomizer for medical use, the company formerly known as DeVilbiss Healthcare has upheld a mission of delivering innovative and reliable medical equipment and healthcare solutions,” the announcement said. “This vision was advanced in July 2015, when it merged with Drive Medical, a leading worldwide manufacturer of durable medical equipment with headquarters in Port Washington, N.Y.”
Today, the Drive DeVilbiss facility in Somerset, Pa., is “a primary site of respiratory production for the organization, providing products to more than 100 countries and manufacturing widely recognized products,” the manufacturer added. “The Somerset location played a vital role during the coronavirus pandemic by dramatically increasing production capacity to meet the high demand for oxygen concentrators and other respiratory equipment.”
Drive DeVilbiss CEO Derek Lampert said, “We are immensely proud to celebrate 135 years of service and innovation. Throughout our rich history, Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare has remained committed to delivering innovative and reliable healthcare solutions, making a positive impact on countless lives.”
