Compass Health Brands has acquired Meridian Medical, a manufacturer of gel overlays, seating and positioning cushions, therapeutic support surfaces, lymphedema systems and respiratory products. Terms of the purchase weren’t disclosed.
Compass Health is the holding company for Carex Health Brands and Roscoe Medical. The Meridian Medical buy will broaden Compass Health’s professional channel, which serves the HME provider market.
The company will now have a full suite of solutions for pressure prevention. Meridian Medical markets its products under six well-known brands: Air Lift, CareFore, Ultra Care, Gel Lite, Core Comfort and MediPress.
Compass Health Brands President and CEO Stuart Straus said the purchase would give his company a “solid platform in the pressure prevention category” and added that “Meridian nicely compliments our Roscoe Medical business, and greatly enhances our ability to meet the growing needs of our home medical equipment dealer network.”
“We are excited to be joining the Compass Health Brands portfolio of companies,” added Mike Cofer, president of Meridian Medical. “… Our new combined customer base will greatly benefit from expanded product lines and enhanced distribution capabilities that we will be able to provide.”
With operations in Knoxville, Tenn., Meridian Medical will continue to manufacture products in the United States. Cofer will stay on and serve as director of manufacturing operations.
