In the wake of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike, CMS has updated its tip sheet for Getting Medical Care and Prescription Drugs in a Disaster or Emergency Area, MESA reports.
The tip sheet provides a variety of online and telephone resources, as well as quick answers to address common patient concerns such as handling out of network care and provider and doctor visits, obtaining prescription drugs, using both in- and out-of-network pharmacies, obtaining additional supplies when separated from their home area and getting special treatment such as dialysis and chemotherapy.
