The Center for Clinical Standards and Quality (CCSQ) wing of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will host a Jan. 24 special Open Door Forum plans for redesigning the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) program in future years.
CMS said QIOs serve as the “keystone” of its national healthcare quality improvement program, by convening providers, practitioners, and patients to build and share knowledge, spread best practices, and achieve wide-scale improvements in patient care, increases in population health, and decreases in health care costs for all Americans.
The Open Door Forum is slated for 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. EDT on Jan. 24. To participate in the call, dial 1-800-837-1935 and use conference ID No. 90637068. TTY communications relay services will be available for the hearing impaired by dialing 7-1-1 or 1-800-855-2880. A relay communications assistant will help.
More information about QIOs is online at http://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Quality-Initiatives-Patient-Assessment-Instruments/QualityImprovementOrgs/index.html.
The special Open Door Forum will start with a presentation from CMS representatives and then will engage the audience in various question to generate feedback on ways that QIOs, in partnership with CMS, can:
- Maximize learning and collaboration in healthcare quality improvement and value with local, state, and regional organizations.
- Demonstrate value to beneficiaries, patients, and taxpayers.
- Support the spread of new models of care.
- Help achieve the goals of the National Quality Strategy.
Discussion materials for this Special ODF will be available to download at http://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Quality-Initiatives-Patient-Assessment-Instruments/QualityImprovementOrgs/Future.html by Jan. 22.
We look forward to hearing specific feedback and partnering with the healthcare quality improvement community to shape the future of the QIO Program.
