Cartoonist Joins Fight Against Competitive Bidding

October 1, 2006 by HME Business

RIVERSIDE, Calif. &#151CompetingBid.com, an online home care forum, has hired a cartoonist, Mark Hill, to depict the ill effects that Congress’ National Competitive Acquisition program will have on senior citizens. The final version of the cartoon will be used in a nationwide campaign that asks seniors to support bills currently in Congress &#151 H.R. 5513 and S.3814.

Hill’s cartoons have been published in Time magazine, the Chicago Tribune and more than 100 prominent news papers. His political cartoons have been on display at the United Nations and also were featured in the book, “Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year.” Check out Hill’s first cartoon at www.competingbid.com Oct. 12.

CompetingBid.com’s goal is to inform home care patients of the effects this new legislation will cause on a personal level. Through technicians and therapists that routinely visit patients in their home, CompetingBid.com’s members will deliver detailed messages directly to clients, encouraging them to call their representatives. It’s estimated that the current members see more than 1,500 clients per day. Hill’s artwork will be an integral part of the message by depicting the problem graphically and creating a call to action.

Most Americans are unaware of the competitive bidding program and the effects it will have on home care. Providers who wish to join the effort can log on to www.competingbid.com.
