Cardinal Health’s Kangaroo OMNI Enteral Feeding Pump is now available in the United States.
In a Sept. 28 announcement, Cardinal Health said the pump is “designed to help provide enteral feeding patients with more options to meet their personalized needs throughout their enteral feeding journey.
The Kangaroo OMNI “is the first and only attitude-independent enteral feeding system in the U.S. designed to deliver think, homogenized, and blended formulas,” the announcement added. “With a compact size for portability, the versatility to feed, flush, and hydrate, and transmit a 30-day feeding history, Kangaroo OMNI is one pump to help meet the enteral feeding needs of patients and caregivers — from hospital to home.”
Kelley Moffett, Cardinal Health’s Senior Vice President of Global Medical Products, Medical Segment, said, “Product innovation plays an essential role in our portfolio lifecycle process. Kangaroo OMNI was designed to help improve the lifestyle of enteral feeding patients and caregivers through ease of use, intelligence, versatility and portability. Kangaroo OMNI provides patients and caregivers with the lightest, smallest and quietest Kangaroo feed and flush enteral feeding pump, while delivering a wider variety of commercially available enteral formulas to the patient.”
Features of the Kangaroo OMNI include monitoring to display nutrition missed when the pump was turned off; a “night mode” that darkens the pump’s screen in low-light environments to reduce disruptions; and step-by-step prompts to facilitate programming and operation. The pump can be cleaned under running water. Visual and audio alarms alert caregivers to feed errors, patient tube blockages, low battery, dead battery, rotor conditions, and set cassette problems.
The pump can be set onto a tabletop or mounted on a bed rail or IV pole.
